Sunderland's 10-year stay in the Premier League ended with defeat against Bournemouth at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland's captain John O'Shea has admitted he is unsure what his future at the club is following their relegation from the Premier League.

Hull's 0-0 draw with Southampton confirmed their drop into the Championship.

"Relegation is the lowest you can feel in your professional career so I am sure they will all be disappointed what happened this season".

Moyes, who took over the reins at Sunderland last summer, has been the subject of fan protests calling for him to resign. I thought we played well against West Ham and Middlesbrough in midweek but we have not turned our opportunities into goals.

"To think about it and talk about it now is just too quick", he said, as quoted by BBC Sport.

The Englishman told reporters in his post-match press conference: "I do have sympathy for Sunderland and the position they're in, they gave everything to win and that probably allowed for us to catch them on the break".

"If we take chances in games, we'll get the victories".

"I've said near enough from the start that I'm experienced, and I know what a Premier League team looks like, I know what a Premier League squad looks like, and I've felt like we've been short of a little bit of quality to try to make that difference". I am sure there is going to be a few changes and we'll find out during the summer.

"I'm really disappointed", Moyes added.

Sunderland were in the Premier League since 2007, but their return to the second-tier Championship has long appeared only a matter of time.

"I acknowledge that during my ownership mistakes have been made, particularly in the area of player recruitment, and as a result we have found ourselves struggling to survive in recent seasons", Short said.

"It's a collective thing from top to bottom - it's wrong to blame any individual".

"From the start of the season when we went to Manchester City their winning goal came two minutes from the end, we then had a awful start to the season and struggled to win a game".

Forward Jermain Defoe and keeper Jordan Pickford put on top-class performances throughout the season, despite the club's overall performance. David is an outstanding manager and they will come back from this.

They have been a great club, they've got great fans but I'm afraid the way the club has been run, they've deserved what they got.
