Batshuayi's late goal delivers title for Chelsea

After Antonio Conte's Chelsea secured the Premier League title at West Brom thanks to a late Michy Batshuayi strike, most of the talk was, understandably, about just how impressive the Blues have been under their Italian manager this season.

Antonio Conte has done a marvellous job turning Chelsea around after their horror show of a season previous year.

Darren Fletcher has played in every Premier League match for West Brom since making the move from Manchester United in January 2015 and the Scotsman, over two years on, is still every bit as tenacious as he was at Old Trafford. I think he will be backed and he does need backing.

Within six minutes, Batshuayi was poking home a close-range finish and getting mobbed by teammates in front of Chelsea's jubilant visiting fans. He has now won four straight domestic league titles, taking in three in a row with Juventus from 2012-14 before a spell in charge with Itay.

"I thought that Hazard and Pedro were exhausted and we needed more energy".

"Only one year later to celebrate this win in a league where there are for me big, big teams with great players, great managers, it's great".

The passion, fight and never surrender attitude Fletcher displays made the midfielder a favourite of Sir Alex Ferguson's and when the players that have been signed and then sold by the Red Devils are considered - Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger spring to mind - perhaps retaining Fletcher would have been a better option. "We are champions. It's another one in the cabinet".

For now, Conte will savor winning the Premier League.

Chelsea - the league leader since early November - has won 28 of its 36 games, including nine of its last 11 matches, to resist a late title challenge by Tottenham. The revitalised Blues have repaid their manager with a relentless march to the title and Conte can now reflect on how far he has come in such a short time.

"You have to cherish these moments, you work so hard all season to be where we are", said Chelsea defender and stand-in captain Gary Cahill. "There's no better feeling than this in football".

With its sixth top-flight title and fifth in the Premier League era, Chelsea is the second-winningest team in English soccer history, per the BBC.

Pulis said: "We just wanted to make a tough night".

After scoring the winning goal, he wasted little time putting the pressure on EA Sports by demanding that they name him to their next Team of the Week release and give him a special in-form card with boosted stats or he might quit playing altogether.
