Democrat Dianne Feinstein, the leading Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, told reporters she understood that Comey was seeking more resources for the FBI investigation.

It's understandable why they might have felt that way: Comey lost the love of many Democrats, including Hillary Clinton, when he released a letter about an ongoing investigation into Clinton's emails just days before the 2016 presidential election, and his investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign in Russian Federation was unlikely to win him support in a Republican Congress.

When Conway is called in from the bullpen, it's usually when Trump has much to hide.

Heck sees the sudden firing of FBI Director James Comey as a troubling extension of this pattern.

Comey's firing was the latest and most significant White House-driven distraction from the Russian Federation investigations, which Trump has ridiculed and dismissed as a "hoax". Instead, they said, the president waited until the various Russian Federation investigations heated up.

"He feels the noose tightening", said Sen.

In a series of early morning tweets Wednesday, President Donald Trump angrily defended his decision to fire FBI Director James Comey, taking aim at Democrats for criticizing the stunning development.

As Kaine put it: "That shows a deeply insecure president".

Stunned by Comey's firing, Democrats and some Republicans renewed calls late Tuesday for a special prosecutor to lead an independent investigation.

Stock Finding Its Footing and Climbing Higher: NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA)
Nvidia will most likely show its new Volta-based GV100 GPU at the keynote, which will be a part of the new Tesla GPU accelerator. In other news, insider Michael Byron sold 750 shares of NVIDIA stock in a transaction that occurred on Wednesday, March 1st.

Democrats compared the ouster to Nixon's decision to fire the independent special prosecutor overseeing the Watergate investigation in 1973, which prompted the resignations of the Justice Department's top two officials. Whether the Comey firing further slows the parallel probes of the House and Senate Intelligence Committees remains crucial as well. And there is a House committee investigation ongoing as well.

Trump tweeted on Wednesday morning that Comey had "lost the confidence of nearly everyone in Washington, Republican and Democrat alike".

Now Republicans and Democrats alike are uneasily awaiting days of coming drama over the Federal Bureau of Investigation issue.

The president said he will hire someone "who will do a far better job" in restoring the FBI's prestige.

Clinton and her supporters indeed blame Comey for throwing the election to Trump with his statement that the FBI had reopened its investigation into Clinton's email in light of the messages from her it found on Weiner's laptop only 11 days before the election. The White House informed Comey by sending him an email with several documents, including Rosenstein's memo.

The president received letters Tuesday from the deputy attorney general, Rod Rosenstein, and Attorney General Jeff Sessions recommending Comey's firing, according to a spokesman. John McCain, R-Ariz., said he was "disappointed" with Trump's decision.

Giuliani said he felt Trump was being "treated quite unfairly" and that "the President made the right decision".

Another former Trump adviser under investigation as part of the Russian Federation probe, former Trump foreign policy adviser Carter Page, also applauded the move.
