Florida State's Dalvin Cook, who was chosen in the second round and 41st overall, became the highest drafted running back for the Seminoles in 20 years, or since former FSU standout Warrick Dunn was taken 12 in the 1997 NFL Draft.

San Francisco rookie general manager John Lynch made the trade with the Bears and gained a third- and fourth-rounder this year and a third-rounder next year to move down one spot and pick superb pass rusher Solomon Thomas from Stanford.

Three days, seven rounds and 253 picks later, it's over.

That was the operative phrase summing up the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, which will be remembered for the stunning moves that blew up mock drafts across the land. "I just have initial ability to take the ball out of the air".

Considering the wild nature of the opening round, Friday's second and third rounds could feature more of the same. Some perspective here: For a long time, a widely held opinion of Penn State among National Football League personnel folks was that you got solid players from there but because of the excellent coaching they'd gotten, only rarely did they go on to become National Football League superstars.

For the players in attendance, it was their first taste of the spotlight that will await them in the NFL.

The Cleveland Browns hold the first pick yet again after finishing just 1-15 last season.

Clement 'really proud' as Swansea move out of drop zone
Swansea are now one point above Hull and firmly in charge of their own destiny with two games of the season remaining. No player has scored more Premier League headed goals this season than Llorente.

Houston Texans - Astronauts at the International Space Station and Space Center will announce picks for the first time from outer space. For QB needy teams such as the Browns, and Cardinals (Palmer is said to be playing in his final season and he is supposed to get lots of time off) they should not be afraid to take a guy in hopes he establishes himself.

Indianapolis Colts - Colts defensive end Kendall Langford will make picks from the Indianapolis Zoo, along with staff personnel.

The good news for Oregon State pertaining to the draft is that two players did eventually get picked on "Day Three", after early indications looked bleak through the first three rounds. His dad, George Adams, was a first-round pick of the rival New York Giants in 1985.

- A pair of running backs were selected in the top 10 as LSU's Leonard Fournette went to the Jacksonville Jaguars at No. 4 and Stanford's Christian McCaffrey was chosen at No. 8 by the Carolina Panthers.

Upside is what it's all about on Day 1 of the draft.

"I go get the ball when it's up in the air", Wilson said.
