While no other film dared open nationwide against Guardians Vol. 2, there were plenty of new offerings at the specialty box office.

It looks like the galaxy has been successfully guarded yet again; the Marvel galaxy that is.

Fast forward to three years later and the sequel to the film is now out as "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" landed in theaters on Friday.

The movie, which features stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper, was released nationwide on May 5.

Starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper among many others, Guardians 2 is an escape thriller that also earned more than $100 million in worldwide ticket sales from an earlier opener, too.

"I would be lying if I said I don't get distracted by the numbers".

But Peter isn't quite strong enough to best Ego without an additional power source.

Happy Star Wars Day!
To celebrate this day, Brick Fanatics opted to build a little setting for a fan favourite Star Wars character. The Tories took out an ad in the London Evening News that read, "May the Fourth Be With You, Maggie".

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is the fifth largest opening in a Marvel film, following The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, and Iron Man 3.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2".

Midway Drive-In theater on Route 59 between Kent and Ravenna in Ravenna Township has joined several other drive-in theaters in not showing the latest "Guardians of the Galaxy" film.

The sudden transition to 34 years later in the galaxy with Baby Groot's adorable dancing to pop music in the midst of the whole squad struggling to fight a giant space octopus gave the audience the familiar sense of director James Gunn's playful screenplay. It's a lovely message for a superhero movie to have at its core, and Gunn shared with fans why they should embrace the feeling of seeing themselves reflected back in the characters.

Opening nearly a week earlier than the USA release, the film had already made $106 million through its opening weekend in about 37 markets.

While the Marvel Studios fixture did not feature any of the franchise's traditional heroes (and Marvel's money-making entities) such as Captain America or Iron Man, this movie did promise a fresher, quirkier cast and characters created to appeal to all audiences. "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is well written, well directed and only makes you want more by the time the movie is over. "Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes" aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians Vol 2 doesn't just follow the main plot. Asked if he thinks the Academy overlooks performances by actors who just happen to be painted blue (or other colors) for their role, Rooker is diplomatic: "I think they should take all acting and all forms of media and cinema seriously... so yeah, of course I think so".
