President Trump agrees 'not to terminate NAFTA at this time'

Jared Kushner and the rest of Team Trump's so-called globalists seemed ascendant in recent weeks, but that changed on Wednesday morning.

It lasted about 12 hours.

President Donald Trump won't immediately terminate United States participation in the North American Free Trade Agreement, the White House said, after he spoke with the leaders of Mexico and Canada about ways to renegotiate the accord. In this case, threatening to withdraw would have amounted to a formal step that started the process of giving Mexico and Canada six months notice that Mr Trump meant to start negotiating. As New York's Eric Levitz noted, "Pulling out altogether would create so much economic uncertainty - and opposition from within the GOP and corporate America - it's nearly unthinkable that the White House would go through with it".

The reversal isn't a surprise, but it's unclear why it happened so comically fast.

Asked during a White House interview by the Washington Examiner if he'd thought about proposals to break up the court, Trump replied, "Absolutely, I have".

"There is talk about what steps we can take to start the process of renegotiating or withdrawing from Nafta", this source said.

The American president has long assailed the North American Free Trade Agreement, pledging on the campaign trail to renegotiate or withdraw Washington from the regional economic pact.

Happy Days Actress Erin Moran found dead
Upon arrival, first responders "determined that the woman was Erin Moran Fleischmann ", Harrison County authorities said. More of her former co-stars commented after hearing about her tragic death.

The White House said "the leaders agreed to proceed swiftly, according to their required internal procedures", to work on renegotiating the deal.

Wednesday's leak definitely sparked drama, with a lawmakers from both parties blasting the move. This report has stopped false news about president that he is contemplating withdrawing from NAFTA. It's possible the Trump administration backed off because they felt they'd already accomplished those goals.

The statement came after U.S. President spoke with Canadian President and Mexican President.

"Even if he notifies Mexico and the United States of his intentions, that doesn't mean he has to leave", said Beatriz Leycegui, who was Mexico's deputy minister on foreign trade between 2006 and 2011.

But in a post Thursday morning on his verified Twitter account, the president said his positive response was "subject to the fact that if we do not reach a fair deal for all, we will then terminate NAFTA". Written in the early 1990s, it is outdated in key respects: Its drafters, for example, did not foresee the rise of the internet.

Upon news earlier Wednesday that the Trump administration was considering a withdrawal from the agreement, some Republicans urged caution. In a rare interview with CNN, a North Korean government official insisted his country's nuclear tests would "never stop" as long as the U.S. continued "acts of aggression".

"It is my privilege to bring NAFTA up to date through renegotiation", Trump said in a statement. Plus, the notification must come from Trump's trade representative, Robert Lighthizer.
