Beginning Today, Google Home Will Be Your Personal Kitchen Assistant

When it comes to home voice assistants, there's no denying that the bulk of their usage comes in the kitchen for setting timers and playing audio. Here's (basically) how it works: You'll look for a recipe using Google Assistant or Google Search on your smartphone, then send the one you choose-let's say raspberry cheesecake jars, a la this video-to the Google Home you already own.

With this update, though, Google is also making it easier to find recipes to begin with.

Cooking without burning the food can be hard enough.

FE's Shakira Martin elected NUS president
She talked about a new NUS focusing on the 7 million members, instead of the presidential candidate. Having been denied refugee status, her family of five shared one room when they arrived in the UK.

But what if you could listen to a recipe and your favorite music, all at the same time? Until now, though, when you asked Google Home for a recipe, it would happily tell you all about it - but unless you are the president of the US and have the world's greatest memory, you probably forgot more than half of the ingredients by the time it was done. There are more than 5 million recipes you can now get from your Google Home. If you missed something or forgot, you can ask for that part to be repeated. The feature, Google notes in a blog post today, is powered by various sources including Bon Appetit, The New York Times, Food Network and more, and works by sending a recipe to Google Home via Assistant on your smartphone, or by simply asking Google Home for a specific recipe.

This new feature is rolling out now and all users should get it over the course of the coming week.

Once you're at home and good to go, just say "OK Google, start cooking" and it'll kick into step-by-step instructions for the meal.
