West Hartford Easter Egg hunt teaches spiritual lesson along with the fun

Edinburg resident Sandra Paiz, 28, took her son and daughter to the Easter egg hunt for the first time after reading about it on Facebook. Hundreds attended the event, which was free and open to children 12 and younger.

Cheers, laughter and squeals of delight at finding an egg filled the air as the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Ridgeview Park in Waynesboro got underway Saturday morning.

The Hooker Chamber of Commerce will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt April 15 from 1 p.m.to 2 p.m.at the chamber building at 102 E. Highway 54 in Hooker. Last year, 100 bags of candy were leftover.

For children in wheelchairs or those who are equipment bound, tables with artificial turf, mulch, flower pots allowed the children to hunt for hidden Easter eggs. There were also several bounce houses and regular Easter egg hunts for kids of all ages.

Brainerd Parks and Recreation hosts the event with money and volunteers for it coming from the Brainerd Rotary Club.

Hunts are divided by age groups and abilities. "I love events like this that bring the community together", Marin said.

Hunting for some family fun this Easter weekend?

"It's a little bit bigger than a year ago, but the weather I think made that happen". It was started by Don Slade, he said, who began with 10-dozen eggs.

The egg hunt will be at 11 a.m. Saturday.

"That he died, he was buried and he rose again, and he did that to die for our sins and he offers us salvation through that", said Laird.

"With such an fantastic turnout a year ago we have expanded to have over 2,500 filled eggs, Granados said".

"For us it really comes back to we just believe that's just how Jesus was".
