Speaking at the headquarters of Snap-on Tools in Kenosha, Trump singled out the H1-B visa program for "allowing American workers of all backgrounds to be replaced by workers brought in from other countries to fill the same job for sometimes less money".

Trump's decree namely instructs the Labor, Justice and Homeland Security departments to tackle abuses and draw up reforms aimed at bringing the program back to its original intent: awarding visas to the most skilled and highly paid applicants.

Stating that it will wait for details of specific proposals under consideration, Nasscom pointed out that the current campaign to discredit the over Dollars 110 billion Indian IT sector is driven by "persistent myths". "Instead, they should be given to the most skilled and highest paid applicants and they should never, ever be used to replace Americans", Trump said.

Trump has traveled to promote his agenda less than his recent predecessors.

"I am proud to stand with the President as he leads on prioritizing American workers and American products first".

The president took on the guest worker program as part of his "buy-American, hire-American" initiative, an effort that's also seen the administration bolster rules against dumping foreign steel in the USA market and order stricter enforcement of laws requiring use of only US -made materials in federal projects. In short, the order aims at cracking down on skilled worker visa abuse and forces the government agencies to buy more domestically produced products.

President Trump is ordering the Secretary of Commerce to review provisions in the harmful "free trade" agreements, to close loopholes on this issue. After completing their studies, they can remain in the United States for a period of 12 months for training, internships, or employment related to their field of study (termed Optional Practical Training or OPT).

What Does the 457 Visa Abolition Mean for Australia's Hospitality Industry?
In a Facebook announcement, Mr Turnbull said: "Our reforms will have a simple focus: Australian jobs and Australian values". The federal government will abolish 457 visas for skilled foreign workers, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has announced .

The trip to Wisconsin marked Trump's first visit to Speaker Paul Ryan's home state and district since taking office.

Trump campaigned on populist promises to stand up to China, which he contended was manipulating its currency and stealing American jobs, and to eliminate the Export-Import Bank, which he billed as wasteful subsidy. Trump reversed himself on both positions in interviews last week. His businesses have also hired foreign workers, including at his Palm Beach, Florida, club.

President Trump had promised in his election campaign that he will stop foreign workers from entering and working in the U.S., and it seems, the first concrete step has already been taken.

"It's been very, very bad for our companies and for our workers and we're going to make some very big changes or we are going to get rid of NAFTA for once and for all", he warned. "And we should end it".

The executive order is expected to hit IT outsourcing firms hard, which used to import cheap foreign labour on work visas and replace United States workers. The staffing companies then sell their services to corporate clients.

"It would be a mistake to close the door on high-skilled workers from around the world who can contribute to American businesses' growth and expansion and make the U.S. more competitive around the world". In addition, the Department of Justice issued a reminder to employers that it would not tolerate discrimination against USA workers. Earlier on Tuesday, Trump ordered a review of government procurement rules favoring American companies to see if they are actually benefiting, especially the USA steel industry.
