First Chinese-American Congresswoman Says "Disturbed" by United Airlines' Treatment of Passenger

Seeking to appease passengers, United Airlines has announced they will refund tickets for all customers present on the chaotic flight.

"To have somebody pay for a ticket, reserve a seat, be seated and then dragged off the plane physically by law enforcement officers at the direction of United (Airlines) - it's outrageous", Christie told CNN's "New Day" on Wednesday.

The senators directed most of their questions at Munoz, including queries about the airline's policy for bumping passengers off oversold flights, and whether it makes a difference that passengers have already boarded the plane, as happened on the United Express plane in Chicago.

Dao filed an emergency "bill of discovery" against United and the city of Chicago to keep all video, cockpit recordings and other reports from the flight, as well as the personnel files of the aviation department officers who pulled Dao off the plane.

The accusations said to have been made by United come after a leaked email to airline employees revealed Dr Dao was removed so staff could take his seat.

Airlines do have legal protection if they act in a reasonable way when refusing to transport a passenger that is a threat to himself or other passengers, Harakas said. In order to make space for four stand-by crew members, United demanded four people voluntarily leave the plane in exchange for a monetary incentive.

The company's shares fell 4% Tuesday and the airline's CEO, Oscar Munoz, originally defended his employees before realizing his error and apologizing. United CEO Oscar Munoz has apologized for the incident, and he vowed Wednesday that it will never happen again.

What is United Airlines' standard operating procedure when deciding to forcibly remove passengers, including those resulting from involuntary denied boarding?

But prison officials and state attorneys say waiting now would put the state's death penalty on hold indefinitely. Arkansas originally planned to execute eight inmates between Monday and April 27 and is appealing the ruling.

Dao, a 69-year-old doctor, has also hired Thomas Demetrio, a high-powered personal injury lawyer, according to a statement from Demetrio.

"The family of Dr. Dao wants the world to know that they are very appreciative of the outpouring of prayers, concern and support they have received". "But once they found out that the next flight wasn't until (Monday) at 2:30 p.m., he said, 'I can't do that". He also said he had no plans to resign. "Currently, they are focused only on Dr. Dao's medical care and treatment", attorney Stephen Golan said in a prepared statement.

President Donald Trump commented on the situation on Wednesday, calling it "horrible".

Three people got off the flight, but the fourth said he was a doctor and needed to get home to treat patients on Monday.

Two officers tried to reason with the man before a third came aboard and pointed at the man "basically saying: "Sir, you have to get off the plane", said Tyler Bridges, a passenger whose wife, Audra Bridges, posted a video on Facebook. He refused to leave.

Screaming can be heard on the videos, but nowhere is Dao seen attacking the officers. "This is wrong", "Look at what you did to him" and "Busted his lip".

The Transportation Department said it is investigating the incident to determine if United violated consumer-protection or civil-rights laws.
