Mr Steve Stephens was accused of shooting Mr Robert Godwin on a Cleveland sidewalk on Sunday before fleeing in a auto and uploading a video of the murder to Facebook, becoming the subject of a nationwide manhunt.

The suspected shooter, Steve Stephens, killed himself on Tuesday following a brief pursuit by Pennsylvania State Police officers.

State police said officers spotted Steve Stephens earlier in the day in Erie County, which borders OH, after they received a tip that his vehicle was in a McDonald's parking lot. The company said that Stephens posted a video of himself announcing his intent to commit murder, then two minutes later posted another video of himself shooting and killing Godwin.

Cleveland's police chief said the video was not something that should "have been shared around the world".

The incident was the latest in a string of disturbing crimes captured on Facebook video, including the alleged gang rape of a 15-year-old girl, two fatal shootings, and the kidnapping and torture of a disabled 18-year-old man. The suspect, Steve Stephens, later killed himself before surrendering.

Stephens' mother, Maggie Green, said her son stopped by her house Saturday and gave her a cryptic message.

Ducharme said employees there "weren't 100 percent sure, but we had a pretty good idea" that the man was Stephens.

Before the shooting, he demanded Godwin say Joy Lane, the name of Stephens' ex-girlfriend.

Stephens says the name of a woman, whom Godwin does not seem to recognize.

Investigators said that Mr Godwin was the only victim so far linked to Stephens, despite his claim on Facebook that he killed more than a dozen people.

He shot himself in the head after the vehicle spun out of control, police said. Now, Godwin's sister says those relatives will be coming to Cleveland for his funeral.

"Only Steve knows that", Williams said. Facebook said it removed the video 23 minutes after learning of it.

Facebook has also been heavily criticised for its management and removal of illegal and extreme content on the site, as well as the sharing of so-called fake news stories.

Ed Villone, the commander of Youngstown State's police academy, said getting those questions answered now is going to be more of a challenge.

Cleveland Police issued an aggravated murder warrant for Stephens and a $50,000 reward was offered for information leading to his capture.
