There has been massive speculation over who Warren Gatland will name as his captain for the forthcoming tour, with Dylan Hartley, Rory Best and Alun Wyn Jones all named as potential picks.
Instead, Hartley will captain England on their two-test tour of Argentina, where he is likely to be accompanied by centre Jonathan Joseph, another surprise omission.
Three surprise inclusions were Wales No. 8 Ross Moriarty, Ireland centre Jared Payne and New Zealand-born England centre Ben Te'o, while England prop Kyle Sinckler got the call even though all of his eight test appearances have come off the bench.
Chris Robshaw, the former England captain who was one of the star performers for Jones during their unbeaten run of test victories previous year, is also expected to be omitted despite returning to full fitness after missing the entire Six Nations campaign with a shoulder injury.
Henry was in charge during the Lions tour to Australia in 2001, when they lost the Test series 2-1, and led the All Blacks to World Cup triumph on home soil in 2011.
"Certainly they are going to be remembered for how they play in those three tests, but the building of the confidence and the ability to play the game through those franchise games and the New Zealand Maori game will be pretty important". But we know how tough it will be - this is the toughest tour. You can find the full tour fixtures below. However, by taking one fewer fly-half, Gatland opens up his options in over areas where the addition of an extra player can help boost his options to conquer the All Blacks where strength in depth is needed.
Bandai Namco Files A Trademark For A Game Called 'Pac-Man Maker'
Whether or not there's enough enthusiasm for Pac-Man to carry a game about creating mazes remains to be seen, however. Now none of the above games listed are official in making an entry in said new title, which you should keep in mind.
Warburton, however, is now out with a knee injury and is expected to be sidelined for five weeks meaning he would be only be fit a few days before the squad departs on May 29.
Today, in the same hotel, the Hilton in Syon Park, a new Lions squad for a new Lions tour is to be announced.
Hartley's leadership skills and captaincy experience should see him travel - both are key traits for the midweek games - but George, unlike with England, goes as first choice hooker. The Northampton front-row forward was selected in Gatland's initial squad in 2013 but did not travel after being suspended for 11 weeks for abusing a referee.
"They are a quality side full of quality players, and to play against the Lions was incredible".
"I feel humbled and extremely proud to be given the opportunity to captain the Lions for a second tour, and look forward to playing the world champions on their own turf with the best players of the United Kingdom and Ireland at my side".
