Lena Hammerling and her daughters Melissa, left, and Maci, right, and an unidentified child look at a sidewalk memorial dedicated to the teacher and student who were shot to death Monday at North Park Elementary School in San Bernardino, Calif., Tuesday, April 11, 2017.

“This is a rare occurrence in our schools, ” school district Superintendent Dale Marsden said.

"He started crying hysterically I spent all night hugging him and telling him, 'Please don't ever leave my side, '" she said. And I don't know if that just reached the boiling point or what it was. "Nor do we know exactly why he chose to do this at the school". One boy died, and another was in stable condition. Anderson also injured another child, and later turned the gun on himself.

Anderson allegedly accused Smith of cheating within a month of getting married, relatives claimed.

"Those closest to her said that she had mentioned that his behavior was odd, and that she was concerned about his behavior and that he had made some threats toward her", the police chief said. "He did not make a specific threat to shoot her".

But he was never convicted, Police Chief Jarrod Burguan told reporters on Tuesday. But Smith moved out of their home in mid-March amid domestic strife, Burguan said. The note would not have been alarming if not for this violent event, he said. "I love being married to Karen Smith-Anderson!" he wrote on 27 February along with a video. However, his Facebook page depicted their marriage as a happy one, with Anderson often professing his love for his wife.

Hundreds of students, parents, and staff members gathered outside of North Park Elementary School to pay tribute to the special education teacher, Karen Smith, and the 8-year-old student, Jonathan Martinez. "Her whole life was surrounded around kids and helping them, and helping them build a future".

Trump signed a bill targeting Title X funding , which helps streamline the possibility of states defunding Planned Parenthood . He did so following a Senate vote in late March where Vice President Mike Pence was called in to cast the deciding vote .

A ritual all too familiar in San Bernardino. Husband-and-wife shooters Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik were later killed in a gunbattle with authorities. The school will remain closed until Monday, Marsden said.

Yet, Anderson may have been dropping freakish hints on Facebook.

The deceased student has been identified as Jonathan Martinez, 8.

On Tuesday, the school district's superintendent said his family wanted to raise awareness of Williams syndrome, a genetic condition that Jonathan was born with, in memory of the boy. Children with Williams tend to be more social and friendly.

The 9-year-old boy who was wounded in Monday's deadly shooting at North Park Elementary is awake and expected to survive.
