Outside of one-offs like the wacky enclosed KTM X-Bow, these cars look pretty normal, and approachable, without a lot of the insane aerodynamic aids you'd find on a GT3 or GTE spec race vehicle. Other models in the Audi Sport portfolio include the R8 and RS 7 as well as the 2017 and the 2018 RS 3, which will launch this summer for the first time in the U.S.

As far back as the 1930s, the legendary "Silver Arrow" models of the Auto Union were the ultimate benchmark on racing circuits worldwide. Since 2000, improvements in lighting technologies and combustion engines have played an instrumental role in earning the brand 13 victories at Le Mans. Audi says the GT3 has 50 percent of its parts in common with the street R8, while the GT4 has 60 percent of the parts in common.
Both the R8 GT3 and GT4 share components with the R8 street vehicle, but the GT4 is a bit closer to stock.
Today, the R8 LMS shares about half of the same parts with its production vehicle cousin, the R8. Audi Sport customer racing has established this infrastructure for the GT3 project on four continents and, like for the RS 3 LMS, uses this proven network for the GT4 model range as well.
