A joint command centre made up of the forces of Russian, Iran and allied militia alliance supporting Syrian President Bashar al Assad said the US strike on a Syrian air base crossed "red lines" and it would now respond to any new aggression and increase their level of support to their ally.

"I think that's dependent on the actors that are at play. That does not mean you are going to send in the troops every time there is a skirmish somewhere, but I thought it was very reassuring".
White House officials caution that Trump is not preparing to plunge the United States deeper into Syria.
The United States warned Russian Federation ahead of the attack.
Asked if Australia should be anxious about Russia's reaction, Senator Payne said Russian Federation needed to answer what it was going to do with its supporters, like Iran, to work with Bashar al-Assad, to find a solution. He called the Assad government a main force against terrorism and said it deserved the presumption of innocence in the chemical weapons attack.
"The entire administration was in agreement that this was something that had to be done", Nikki Haley, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said on NBC's "Meet the Press".
A U.S. Navy admiral said the missile strikes had destroyed the ability of the Syrian military to launch chemical strikes from the base.
"Why were they that defensive that quick?" asked Haley.
"Whether this is over is up to President Assad", said this official.
The Trump administration will continue its efforts to address its massive trade deficit, which involves many Asian countries, he said, urging Taiwan to stay on guard and come up with a strategy with which to respond.
