Garcia noted that the elementary school does not have uniformed police officers or campus security like the district's middle and high schools.

Police suspect 53-year-old Cedric Anderson of carrying out the shooting at North Park Elementary, which left his estranged wife, Karen Smith, 53, and an 8-year-old student in her special-needs class dead.
Burguan added that Anderson has a criminal history, which includes weapons charges, accusations of domestic violence and drug charges, though he did not go into specific detail.
"This is a time when we do stand strong and we do stand together and a time we overcome the hatred with grace and peace", said San Bernardino City Unified School District Superintendent Dale Marsden.
"Obviously, from a school board member perspective, it causes all of us to want to closely evaluate our protocols for safety and security to make sure that this sort of thing doesn't affect the families who trust us with their children", said Columbia Public Schools board member Helen Wade.
The school is about 10 miles from the Inland Regional Center, where 14 people were killed and 22 wounded in a December 2015 terror attack carried out by a husband and wife. "She knows when to ignore me".

Parents gathered outside the elementary school, waiting to pick up their children and get updates on the shooting.
Sandy Detinne, whose 5-year-old grandson attends the school, was one of them.
Anderson also reloaded after firing what is believed to have been a.357-caliber revolver, the police chief said.
