FBI director James Comey has publicly confirmed for the first time that the the bureau is investigating Russia's efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election, including any potential coordination between Trump campaign associates and Russia's Government.

In the first tweet, the @POTUS account said that "Comey refuses to deny he briefed President Obama on calls made by Michael Flynn to Russian Federation". Even if his advisers are ultimately cleared in the Russian Federation probe, as the White House insists they will be, the investigation could loom over Trump's presidency for months or even years, distracting from the ambitious domestic agenda he's vowed to enact.

Two key U.S. officials are set to testify publicly about whether there is any truth behind the explosive, but unsubstantiated, claim by U.S. President Donald Trump that former President Barack Obama wiretapped his Trump Tower headquarters in the weeks before last year's presidential election.

Many Democrats also are deeply unhappy with Comey for his handling of an inquiry into Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server, especially issuing statements about it shortly before Election Day.

FBI Director James Comey wasn't yet done testifying about Russian meddling in the USA election when the Trump administration hit Twitter to try and minimize the damage.

Comey and Rogers are not expected to reveal much in public about the probes, which include information that is classified Top Secret and also separated into different compartments, each of which requires a separate clearance.

The video tweeted out by the account shows House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) asking whether the Russians physically tampered with votes in the 2016 election. "We know there was not a wiretap on Trump Tower".

Meanwhile, Trump launched a series of tweets Monday morning, perhaps in an effort to distract from Comey's testimony, which will likely debunking allegations, according to reports. "Must find leaker now!"

Comey said he is authorized by the Justice Department to make the disclosure, although the FBI does not typically discuss or confirm the existence of ongoing investigations. DNI Clapper "right" to say no evidence of collusion between Russian Federation and Trump Campaign.

"The real problem here is you had a foreign adversarial power intervene in our election, a very close election, and what our intelligence community tells us is they're going to do it again", Adam Schiff, the senior Democrat on the House intelligence panel, told CBS News Monday.

Trump fired his first national security adviser, Michael Flynn, last month after he failed to disclose contacts with Russia's ambassador before Trump took office on January 20.

But the Trump administration has rebuffed any contention that its campaign aides colluded with Russian officials in that cyberattack.

A short time later, a Fox News anchor said, "Fox News can not confirm Judge Napolitano's commentary".

Flynn later admitted talking to the ambassador about U.S. relations with Russia just as the Obama administration was slapping punitive new sanctions and expelling three dozen Russian officials over the election interference.
